THE DIAMOND JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS
Plans for the Diamond Jubilee Celebration are going well. There has been lots of interest from local community groups and sports clubs. A programme of events which will include live music, Morris Dancing, magician, Punch and Judy show and a Skiffle group amongst many other attractions is being organised.
A tea party for local children up to the age of eleven will be held in the Tithe Barn and there will be a BBQ, cream teas, ploughman’s lunches and a beer tent for refreshments.
We need teams for the TUG OF WAR competition and children to join in the traditional races which will all be held in the arena. A dog show will be held in the afternoon. All details will follow.
If you have any spare cotton material, any colour, which will be used to make traditional bunting, it would be gratefully received. We also need crockery, any size or design, odd sets of any colour would be welcome.
It is hoped to stage a display of Lenham in the fifties, if anyone has any old photographs, maps, leaflets or any such like which you think would be useful please let us know. We are quite happy to collect materials or crockery.
If you would like to help out on the day, we are holding open meetings at the community centre March 8th, April 12th and May 10th at 7pm all welcome. Help us to make the Diamond Jubilee Celebration a day to remember!
